Bill Gates

Bill Gates' full name is William Henry Gates III.

He was born and raised in Seattle, Washington.

At the age of 14, together with 3 friends, he founded a computer programming company which earned them $20,000 in its first year selling a traffic counting system to local governments.

In 1975 he dropped out of a law course at Harvard University to found the microsoft Software Company in Redmond, Washington state.

He started to dominate the infantile computer industry around 1980 when he acquired an operating system and licensed it to IBM.

Microsoft Disk Operating system (MS-DOS) became the standard operating system for just about all IBM and IBM compatible personal computers.

And it was later in the 1980's that Microsoft dominated the personal computer market and in 1986 Gates took the company public making himself a multi-millionaire at the age of 31.

By 1991 he was ranked the world's richest man.

In the 1990's Gates' Microsoft had developed the Windows operating system which allowed users to operate their computers with on-screen sysbols as opposed to awkward keyboard commands.

And the Windows "multi-tasking" environment gets stronger and stonger every year.
